The Music Teachers Association
Sequoia Concerts works with the Music Teachers' Association of California and supports many of their programs, including the Bach Festival, and the Certificate of Merit YAG program. We hope to support concerts from the members of the Young Artist Guild in 2010-11 as well as provide opportunities for the younger talented students to express themselves and gain experience in performing.
The San Bernardino Branch
The San Bernardino Branch of the MTAC has given a huge amount of support for the development of Sequoia Concerts. Without their help, Sequoia Concerts would not be able to go forward with its activities. We thank them and hope that everyone will support their Annual San Bernardino Branch Young Artist Concert which is a long held tradition with their branch for more than 40 years and founded by the late MTAC-SB treasurer Gwendolyn Roberts. This award is the highest honor available given to any student of a San Bernardino Branch member and involves presenting a professional debut concert sponsored by the MTAC San Bernardino Branch.
The San Bernardino branch MTAC Young Artist Concert will be held on Oct. 18th, 2009 at Lyman Hall in Pomona College in Claremont, CA at 5:00 pm. Admission will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Donations will be accepted by the branch and disbursed to the Young Artist Winner for the purpose of furthering musical education and training as well as for the Young Artist Scholarship Fund of the San Bernardino branch, MTAC. This year's concert will feature an 18 yr. old pianist, Katelyn Lizardi.
